Originally from the UK, Steph is a young Australian director with a strong interest in character work and narrative cinematography.

Having first stepped foot on a film set in 2023, Steph has experience working on multiple short and feature-length independent projects, getting her start as a production assistant with feature film Strange Nights (Relapse Films).

2024 marked Steph’s first foray into cinematography with the short film Getaway, her results for the course topping the year. Poplar Street (sic), Steph’s original ten-word, ten-shot short, was screened at the 2024 Newbie Awards and Expressions: Screen and Media. In 2025, Steph was Director of Photography for short films I’ll Be Fine (Ripple Productions), The First Love, and Nonexistent, and is set to DP upcoming short Coordinate later this year.

Her directorial debut Fellowship, a 15-minute psychological drama, premiered at Newcastle’s inaugural Seahorse Film Festival in 2024. As part of her final year major work, Steph wrote, directed, and co-produced a 25-minute psychological horror short filmed in the Hunter Valley region, titled Uncanny Valley (in post-production), and recently directed Sydney-based short Double Date.

In addition, Steph has worked on independent feature film To The Tooth and short film Enter, Haze as a co-producer and 1st AD (both in post-production), and 1st AD for award-winning short film The Art of Eating Sin and limited series Mystery Incorporated (Prologue Pictures). Steph also worked on the music video for Maple’s Pet Dinosaur’s Lego (dir. Marigold Pazar) as camera assistant and second camera operator.

Steph graduated from the University of Newcastle with a Bachelor of Communication with Distinction, majoring in Media Arts Production, in mid-2025.

Passionate about performance, Steph enjoys event photography, and directing acting showreels with local talent between major projects.
